Breakout Fiber Optic Cable contains numerous simplex fibers, all enclosed together within an outer jacket. The Breakout design provides additional strength and is substantially larger than standard distribution fiber cable. Common applications include short Plenum and Riser runs as well as use through conduits.

Breakout Fiber Optic Cable has the option to be divided into individual fiber lines since each simplex fiber strand is individually reinforced; the simplex fiber inside the outer jacket can be broken out and used as patch cord, avoiding the need of patch panels. Furthermore, Breakout Fiber Optic Cable is often used with a fanout kit to protect the fiber and enable multi-unit breakouts.

This breakout cable is certified, devoid of electrically conductive components, which could catch and/or spread fire throughout a building in the case of an emergency, available in 2 to 72 strand count versions. Note that OFNR cables are not rated for installation in Plenum areas.
